About The Course
The C1 driving test is based upon the lorry driving test, it’s basically the same driving test but with a smaller vehicle. To be eligible to take this test you must take the following steps.
1. Book an appointment for a drivers medical either through us or with you own doctor.
2. Apply to the DVLA for your provisional C1 licence, the process for this, is to submit the relevant completed forms, D4 and D2, to the DVLA enclosing your current driving licence. It will normally take up to 3 weeks (usually sooner) for your new licence with provisional C1 category to return. Contact us once you receive it and you can visit us for an assessment/trial lesson. This will give you the opportunity to see what we have to offer and we can suggest the correct duration of driver training to suit your ability. If you cannot visit us for an assessment, you could book an ‘average’ length course.
3. Book your theory tests online at www.gov.uk/book-theory-test, you will need to take – LGV Theory Test & LGV Hazard Perception, and if you intend to drive for ‘hire and reward’ you will need to take the LGV Case Studies if you passed your car driving test after 1/1/1997, contact us for advice if needed. You can either buy the Books and DVD’s from us to revise to pass the theory tests or sign up withwww.drivingtheory4all.co.uk, this can be achieved/accessed through this website on the Theory Training Tab, please contact us for further details.
4. Once you have passed your theory tests then contact us to book your driver training course as suggested by the driving assessment.
The driving test will last approximately 90 minutes, during which you will be required to complete a reversing exercise, then drive onto the roads during which you will complete uphill, downhill and angled starts, together with a controlled stop and moving away from the side of road in traffic.
You benefit from our network of training centres so you can learn at a location that suits you
To keep you refreshed, tea and coffee is available throughout the day and a buffet lunch is included in the course fee.
